Cast iron, no. 4 from an edition of 5, with one artist's proof, 2010.
72 x 21 1/4 x 16 1/8 inches
"The name comes from the idea of how material coheres: the valence bond between atoms to form molecules; and the crystal bond of a mineral. The work evokes the sub-optical crystalline geometry of the iron from which it is made, and which is applied to a body to express coherence or how things hold together. The posture is one of internal compression. The matrix geometry is produced between bubbles of different sizes and differing internal atmospheric pressures. The external faces suggest further invisible but affective cells that surround the body-zone." -AG, 2010
